Monogon's blog

By Monogon, history, 3 years ago, In English

The upcoming round has an unusual starting time. In order to keep my performance slightly less bad than usual, I will apply the "destroy my sleep schedule" strategy. For some unknown reason I have decided to document this by beginning my streaming career.

If Monogon overtakes Errichto in the "Top Contributors" list, lets have a face reveal.

I don't know what I'm doing. Was it even recorded? Do I have to do something or will twitch automatically record it?

No you have to record it separately if you want to upload it on YouTube. I don't understand why streamers stream on twitch rather than YouTube. Because if you stream on YouTube, you don't have to record it separately, youtube will upload your stream after sometime. Moreover many people have slower internet speeds and sometimes have limited access to internet data. So they definitely can't watch your stream on twitch (as it does not have the option to downgrade video quality) even if they are willing to. Also youtube has more global user base than twitch, so your streaming career will grow faster. I like Errichto's idea of streaming on twitch and youtube simultaneously. He uses re-stream bot for combining both platform's chat. This way his streams are saved forever on youtube and also his twitch audience is not disappointed

I wanted to stream on YouTube at first, but it told me I had to wait 24 hours before I have streaming privileges because it's a new account. This first stream was planned very last minute. I hope I will have the setup figured out better next time.

Monogon, you need to turn on VOD in Twitch settings in order to allow watching the video later https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/video-on-demand

Streaming to both sites is complicated, I don't recommend it.

I don't understand why streamers stream on twitch rather than YouTube.

Twitch is more convenient to use for a streamer, the chat seems to ask better questions, and there's a community of streamers with hosting and raiding.

        Twitch allows viewers to select video quality (1080p / 720p / 480p / 360p).
