Hi everybody :)

There were several topics about live streams recently (24h event by Mimino at HackerRank, live streams with enot110 solving Timus...). I already have an experience of making a screencast, and now I am also going to try live streaming.

Streaming real contests isn't a good idea :) Also I am not a huge fan of solving OJ; so the question of choosing idea for first stream is still open.

Right now I think that the best idea would be to open SPOJ (I was never really active at this OJ, there are not a lot of problems solved at my account there — and I have a lot of easy problems remaining) and start solving some tasks there. But I am open to suggestions and ideas)

I am not aiming at making it very interesting/entertaining (so maybe it will be simply about me listening to music and writing code... so boring...); also I am not going to do some lecturing or things like that — I am both not good enough for it and not interested in it:)

Maybe it will be a long one (24 hours does not sound like a limit) — or maybe it will be too boring for me and I'll stop very soon.

I'll update this post with more details later :) Hope to see some nice ideas in comments.

UPD. Probably I'll start a session on Monday morning, I'll try solving easy SPOJ problems (and maybe also some tasks which you had suggested) and I'll use Twitch, as StoneCold_ suggested. Need to get familiar with it now :) I'll post a link and any further updates here.

UPD. #2 Here is Twitch channel. I'll start approximately at 6 A.M. on Monday.

UPD. #3 Approximate schedule of future streams has been published at Twitch channel.

You want to live stream solving SPOJ problem? That's great :)

I have recommendation:

My friend is one of problem-setter on SPOJ, this is his page containing his problem and his favorite problem: http://www.spoj.com/problems/FRANCKY/

Looking forward to see you solving his hard problem and his favorite problem ;)

Please make it on twitch instead of youtube as it is comparatively less laggy.

There is a chance that one can be banned on twitch because of non-gaming content (actually I was banned once because of this reason). I think ustream.tv is the best platform so far for streaming any content you wish — games, programming, movies, even pron – nobody cares.

Hey You solved 261 problems at this OJ and you say "there are not a lot of problems solved at my account there" ?? :D

Winter IOI is coming, so if there was an IOI-parallel contest, you could've livestreamed that (it's like a real contest, but there are no security problems like with an online contest). But I'm pretty sure there won't be one, so it's a trash idea...

Solving suggested OJ problems seems like a working idea, as long as there aren't any trolls.

There's a local Slovak OJ with a collection of problems — some were used in Comenius University selection for CERC, have English statements and are quite good (misof seal of quality :D); I've learnt a lot on it. The only small problem is that it's in Slovak language only...

One question. When?

Uh, I don't see any point in all those streams :P. Maybe if someone want to teach others something then it could be a little interesting, but if you openly admit that you're not going to make it interesting or teach something than I will probably prefer watching as grass grows :P.

That makes sense) The point is — I am not focused on making it interesting or entertaining. Had to tell it — to all those who are going to say "Man, it is so boring, you should better start doing it in following way or I'll not watch it". My response will be simply "OK:)".

Even if I would aim at making it educative — it would be a bad idea for people like you to waste time on it. It would be very hard for me to teach person with your level. You know a lot of topics better than me:) On the other hand, even if I am not going to focus on educative part — it may still turn out to be useful for some beginner. Maybe he'll simply read a solution to some problem which is hard enough for him :)

You know, YOLO — and sometimes you want to try some new things; I want to try it, that's simple :) I guess first one would be more about fun and I'll not try to learn something new or improve my level during that event, but I don't see anything bad in actually training (and solving problems of your level or learning new things) with camera being turned on. It has several advantages. You may actually use it to analyze your fails; also stuff like that may save your time — like Quora answers, when people are asking your some things over and over again, you may simply share a link, so they will get answer/opinion they wanted instead of being ignored, and you'll not waste your time; another advantage — it is quite easy to get distracted from solving problems by reading news, answering emails... Doing trainings in contest mode helps, but what about upsolving? :) And when you have a camera turned on — it is one more way of self-control and imroving productivity.

I'll think about adding some growing grass in a background, to make it more interesting for you :P

    Sure :)

    And background music?

Yes) Talking about music — I guess you can allways turn it on at your side, if it is missing or you don't like one which is presented at stream at the moment)

Off topic.

I am so curious to know about you. How come you have solved these many problems in OJs and contest sites? I have seen that you have solved most problems in CF (4000+ as far as I remember) and probably you have solved many in other sites also. How do you do that? :)

It is really sooo cool by the way!

That first stream has ended :) Actually it was 25 hours of fun — I enjoyed it a lot. It was nice to solve a few problems at SPOJ, I haven't practiced there for a long time :)

I'll put all links, announcements and related materials straight to Twitch channel. Probably I'll announce first "casual" streams in the evening — check updates at Twitch. I don't see reasons to post that stuff in this topic — I'd better leave place in recent actions for more interesting things :)

P.S. And don't miss streams by enot110 — they are awesome :)

I thought your stream was very nice. And I think you should feel free to post updates of when future streams should be in this thread, otherwise people like me might miss them, and anyway your streams are more interesting than most things in the recent actions list :)

Right now they are available — videos can be found at my Twitch channel, they will be stored there for 14 days. Also I'm going to export them — and they'll be available later)

Don't worry, you didn't miss something special — I already posted approximate schedule at my channel, there will be quite a few streams soon :) Not a "let's solve 148 SPOJ problems in a single run" events — but, in some respects, they'll be even better, comparing to that first tryout) It is possible that I'll start using microphone :)

I_love_Tanya_Romanova Is the video of this stream available anywhere? I think it might be one of the best things I could've experienced.
