Maybe in summer COVID-19 will lose its power due to hot. But I don’t know.

Dear friends!

Probably many of you already know that in 2020 it is planned to host the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics in Georgia.

The government of our country and the local organizing group have been preparing for the Olympiad with great diligence and even solved some organizational issues. Local organizing, scientific and scientific technical committees have been established. September 1-7 has been set as the date for the Olympics. It was planned to invite several members of the International Organizing Committee to Georgia in April.

But, as you know, the situation is mixed because of the COVID-19. Our scientific and scientific technical committees continue to work on tasks and on testing system. We have also prepared the website that will be refined over time and new functionality added.

It is unknown at this time if it will be possible or not to hold the Olympiad during planned dates. One problem is opening borders, resuming flights, and the other is the financial problems that quarantine has caused due to the deteriorating economic situation.

At the moment, we are considering 3 different options for holding the Olympiad: hold during currently scheduled time, postpone the deadline for late fall (dates to be determined), hold the online Olympiad.

Of course, we will do our best to hold the Olympiad during planned dates, as we would like to see each of you and your students in Georgia in September. We think that the situation will become more or less clear by the end of May or June at the latest. We will inform you of every new development. It is good that practically no European citizen needs a visa to visit Georgia, which will allow us to postpone the final registration deadline and the countries will still be able to staff their teams.

For now, please make a preliminary registration on our website ( http://ejoi2020.ge ), where you only indicate whether you plan to come to Georgia to participate in EJOI2020. Also try to indicate, as accurately as possible, the size of your team (leaders, participants, guests). So far only this information is needed. Please make preliminary registration by June 1st. If, for any reason, you are unable to pre-register within this period, please write to me stating the specific reasons.

Along with this letter, we are sending you all usernames and passwords required for preliminary registration. Your username will be your email address and you can change the password after logging in.

If you don’t receive email with your passwords on time or should you have any questions, please contact to the email: info@ejoi2020.ge

I wish you good health and hope to see you soon in Georgia!

P.S. If you are not contact person from your country please forward this letter to the proper address.

Sincerely, Prof. George Mandaria President of EJOI’2020
